Holland Tunnel's Unique Catwalk Cars Revolutionize Traffic Control in 1954

Did you know that the Holland Tunnel once featured unique catwalk cars? In 1954, these specially designed machines were tested, replacing the need for officers on foot to handle traffic issues.

With three-horsepower electric motors, they zoomed through the tunnel at speeds of up to 12 mph. These steel and aluminum wonders, powered by eight-horsepower gas engines, reached an impressive top speed of 35 mph. 🚗💨

While the catwalk cars eventually retired, their legacy remains. Imagine the unconventional adventures they had, paving the way for modern tunnel surveillance!
